Employment Opportunities

part time internships on the farm are possible. Interns will have the opportunity to work in the varied aspects of farm life, soil preparation, weeding, cultivation by hand, small tools and tractor, planting, insect control, greenhouse cultivation, chicken raising (for both meat and eggs), farmers markets sales, interacting with PYO customers and CSA shareholders and record keeping.
Interns will be provided with housing in our family’s antique farmhouse or a trailer next to the main house. We run a cooperative household where everyone is expected to participate in meal preparation and housekeeping and asked to take responsibility for the maintenance of common areas. Meals are included with the housing, in a shared family setting. Everyone is expected to help with meal preparation, and meals are generally taken together as a group. We have hosted an eclectic bunch of eating preferences through the years, vegan, vegetarian, food allergies, omnivores, and carnivores who think vegetables are interesting but suspect. Everyone in the household is expected to respect and accommodate the community's varied life choices.
Along with room and board, a small stipend, and workers compensation we provide educational opportunities. Interns will have the opportunity to learn the many aspects of farm production, CSA management, biological farming techniques, farmers market operations, poultry raising and harvesting, retail stand and PYO management. Owned and operated by our family since the early 1700's our farm is nestled in the hills of Sutton, MA in southern Worcester County. We are part of a multi-farmer CSA, Stone's Throw CSA which uses our farm for distribution. We also sell at a number of farmers markets and have PYO strawberries (not chemical free but cultivated using the IPM program) and pumpkins. We are located near Purgatory Chasm and the mid-State Trail.
